This petition has done its work. All Hell is going to Break Loose this April! Ozchicksunite are extremely proud of all that we have accomplished in the past 18months. We never gave up on our dream and for that our reward is to come next month. We finally get to experience that which many an international Supernatural fan has already experienced. A whole weekend of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. But wait! There’s more!

Recently we were excited to learn that Misha ‘Castiel’ Collins will also be attending our Convention. Thank you to The Hub Productions for doing some swift negotiations and finding the money to bring our favourite Angel downunder. We now have a triple Supernatural treat that makes our reward all the more sweeter.
Knowing we are guaranteed a fifth season of the show makes this convention another reason to celebrate with our Supernatural friends and family. No need to be biting nails and wailing at the powers that be, to save our show. Awesome!

Ozchicks have been working overtime since the announcement of our Supernatural Convention. We could have just sat back and started counting down the days to when we are going to meet Jensen, Jared and Misha. We could have quiet easily have done that and thought our work was over. But NO! We still wanted to make sure everyone had the best opportunity to know about the convention so we remain out there in cyber land keeping in touch, to give you all the SuperOzCon news, as it happens. Like us, we assume most of you are convention virgins – be gentle with us boys! So we have been fielding your questions, liaising with The Hub Productions and doing all that we can to ensure this will be an experience that we all will treasure for many many years to come.

The campaign to sell the remaining Day Passes is on. We are still spreading the word and hope that you will too. We have our Google ads still going and are in the process of adding our own advertisements in the press and magazines to bolster that which The Hub Productions are planning. Post cards will be sent to some key groups in the hopes that we will get a plug or two. We also have On-line newsletters such as the Sci-Fi Reporter and Filmink, running spiels for us – awesome! Our friends and supporters have also been working to get pamphlets out to relevant shops or sites and adding our information to their on-line places, doing all that we have asked of them. They truely make our hearts swell.

If you can’t find any friends to come along with you, don’t feel that you will be lonely. Our experience of Australian Supernatural Fans is one of camaraderie and family so you will be made most welcome. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Raising A Little Hell Keeps the Home Fires Burning

A year has come and gone since this petition came into being. What a fantastic milestone. Be advised! Ozchicksunite have not waned in our fervour to see this awesome journey through to its ultimate conclusion. Time has flown by and Ozchicksunite are still on the job, spreading the word and making contacts all over the net. Our signature numbers have increased by 500+ since our last blog.

Our update:

On a sad, however, understandable note, we have had to say goodbye to our Publicity Officer, Lea. Her work and study load has made it impossible for her to continue on. We wish to thank her for her hard work and for the tips and training she gave us along the way.

We have an e-Newsletter. Issue 2 has been sent. Click the ‘Contacts’ button to send an email requesting to be added to the mailing list. All addresses will remain confidential and only used for the purpose of keeping you updated more efficiently.

Our Bumper Stickers were a hot commodity. A fantastic supporter handed one each to Jim Beaver (Bobby) and Lauren Cohen (Bela) at the Asylum Convention in the UK.

Ozchicksunite paid for advertising space on the Eyecon Florida Website www.eyeconfla.com and for Google Sponsor Links. We noticed a definite boost to our petition numbers from these two initiatives.

Ozchicks - Bex, Sarah and Kaz - had the pleasure of attending Supanova in Sydney to meet Jared Padalecki. He won us over (even more) with his trademark enthusiasm for meeting his fans. To commemorate his visit we gave both he and Jensen adoption certificates for a koala each. We adopted little Links VTR for Jared and Siren Gem for Jensen. Both koalas were saved at the Koala Preservation Society Hospital in Port Macquarie. Jared was visibly happy and expressed his enthusiasm for these gifts.

While we were at Supanova we talked to fans who recognized us and handed out pamphlets to those who commented on our SuperOzcon T-shirts. Jared was, of course, very happy to see us promoting his show.

As a promotion and thanks to our supporters, we ran a Banner Competition. Ali at Supernatural fansite ‘Midnight at the Crossroads’ www.geocities.com/matcrossroads hosted the competition. We were extremely pleased with the caliber of all entries and found it difficult to choose. However, there could be only one, so Angel was our winner. She and other finalists now have an official supporters banner to display on all their web spaces.

You may be aware that the Supernatural Crew in Vancouver hold an annual postcard drive, where the fans from around the globe send in a postcard to be displayed on the Supernatural Headquarters walls. We didn’t miss out on this opportunity to promote the idea of a convention in Australia, so we had our logo made into a huge poster and sent it to them Express Post. We hope to see a photo showing that our poster is hanging proudly on a wall, one that the Cast and Crew walk past each day.

So friends and supporters, this is what we have been up to. Ozchicksunite meet each week via IM and of course, emails fly back and forth each and every day. We are still on the hunt and we will not stop until we get what we all wish for. You can count on that!

It’s been a while, since this petition came into being, 13 August, 2007 to be exact. Don’t you fret, ozchicksunite have been working tirelessly to get the word out – Australia is ripe for an All Hell Breaks Loose Supernatural Convention.

What the hell have we been doing since our last entry?

WE ADDED TO OUR CORE GROUP. Meet Jodie (Jensen_Jo) an early supporter who took our breath away with her high-octane level of support and ideas. We couldn’t pass up her enthusiasm, she keeps us primed and ready for action. Welcome Jodes.

A MAJOR HURDLE WAS OVERCOME when our site was moved from jraunlimited.com without notice. Signatures were lost during a period of a week…a long time to be out of action, every name counts. The whole issue was out of our hands when new owners took over jraunlimited and made some changes. We totally appreciate the support jraunlimited had given us by housing this site on their server. We are now independent and are running things ourselves with the awesome back up of our site designer MontyCora.

We worked in a frenzy to get the word out to all our contacts and to get our banner and links updated in all sites and forums loyal to us. Thank you for following us here to our new home…it looks cozy doesn’t it?

NETWORKING NETWORKING & MORE NETWORKING. This has been via all possible on-line avenues. You found us, and we have made great friends all over the place, no corner of the wide weird web has been overlooked.

WE HAVE SENT A LETTER TO THE SUPERNATURAL PRODUCTION TEAM introducing ourselves and asking the big basic question;

“We…wanted to inquire as to whether or not you would consider attending, if the stars of the show, the writers, creators, etc would come over to the convention?”

Our main aim here, was to make the idea known to the people we seek to attend our convention. We are waiting for a response.

JENSEN ACKLES FLEW IN…Back in February our site and profile was given a major boost with Jensen Ackles ‘Dean Winchester’ jetting to our shores for a round of press interviews. See, he does know how to get to Australia. We are sure he can give Jared, Eric and the cast and crew of Supernatural excellent directions to Aussieland…no need to pull the Impala over to ask for directions.

During Jensen’s visit, our aim was to take the petition numbers to 1000. We did it - you did it! You got us to this major milestone. Thank You. While Jensen was thrilling us with his presence, we joined in the fun over at Channel 10’s Supernatural Forum, all the while spreading the word. Forum moderators, Fraggle and Benjoman were awesome and tried to include an Aussie Convention question in the Q & A with Jensen. So many forum members asked a similar question. The question didn’t make it to the on-line interviews, however, we are sure that Channel 10 knows who we are now and we thank them for their support.

TV WEEK PUBLISHED OUR SITE in the Top Site section in the February 16-22 Issue. The awesome Aurora nominated us for this honor and we are completely thankful to her for spreading the word, so effectively. Look out for another mention of Super Ozcon in the ‘Star Letters’ section of TV Week. Phoebe has advised us that the magazine will be publishing her letter very soon. We asked you all to spread the word, and it is hugely gratifying to see the lengths you all will go to, to help us in our quest.

CONTACT WITH WARNERS HOME ENTERTAIMENT is our next course of action. We want the owners of Supernatural to be fully aware of who we are and what we are trying to achieve.

We are currently preparing a letter to Warner Home Entertainment. To make contact and to gauge a level of interest, from the owners of Supernatural and hopefully find out that yes, they are already planning to send their show to Australia or yes they are interested in a personal style promotion of the show via a convention. This is the next stage, to have something concrete to work towards.

YOUR SUPPORT - WOW! We really have to say; the level of support from you all out there, just astounds us. We are so grateful that you see we are serious. On a ‘wow that happened’ kind of note, ozconchicks have reported being recognized around their traps when we start a conversation about Supernatural or even when waiting in a drive thru – one girl saw Maritza’s SuperOzcon bumper sticker and she could clearly see the flailing and hear the squeals of delight from the girl in the car behind her. It just warms our hearts.

BUMPER STICKERS if you would like to get your own bumper sticker…feel free to take the artwork, Sarah has prepared, and make your own. Limited numbers were ordered and offered over at the Channel 10 forum, unfortunately, we have no income to be able to send one to everyone.

‘Dean! Pass the Rock Salt!’

So, you’ve signed our petition, or are about to. Thank you, we need you, the fans of The CW Networks ‘Supernatural’ to reach our goal of having the stars and the brains trust behind our favourite show, appear in Australia for a close encounter of the Convention type.

Who are we? Well, you’ve probably read that we are a group of women who formed a friendship over our shared love and admiration of Jensen Ackles.

Where did we begin? At the only place to be - the best ever Jensen Ackles fan site and forum at www.jraunlimited.com. A massive thanks to jraunlimited for allowing us to piggy back their site with this one. They ROCK – big time! And who created this site? Man! Have you met MontyCora? Her technical wizardry just blows us away. Thanks babe, you make us look awesome.

You guys really need to jump in the Impala and blast out those between season cobwebs and drive the super highway to jraunlimited.com. Especially if you are interested in joining with a group of fans who all have nothing but respect for the man, Jensen Ackles. Supernatural Season 3 is about to begin so join in and have a blast discussing episodes and share with friends everything you will ever need to know about Jensen’s career. You want pics? Oh yeah! We got tonnes of those babies to get fixated on. Drool bucket? Anyone? We’re all more than willing to share.

But, we’re guessing what you’re really here for is for news of all things Australian Supernatural Convention-y. You want to know what’s been going down. Right?

So, what have we been up to? Well, spreading the word is the first stage of a multi-staged Supernatural assault.

You found us so that is working. We have created a myspace – Thanks Clare (Vix). Told our friends to tell their friends. We have also hunted through bebo, youtube, various Australian fanforums and fan groups such as Supernatural Underground, Winchester Watching Alliance, Team Winchester, all of whom have come on board to promote this site. Thanks to everyone for their awesome support.

We have US supporters who are attending the Chicago Con in October. They will be handing out our very own AHBL pamphlet promoting our desire and this site. Even t-shirts are going to be worn. The Supernatural people will be respectfully handed the pamphlet to foster an interest in an OzCon. Thanks to Sarah for the design and Lea’s expert assistance with the wording. Huge buckets of thanks for our adopted Aussie, Megaera in the US who has nothing but a massive desire to make us very happy. Have fun at the Con babe, don’t forget to give the boys a hug for us - watch where you put your hands!

We’re currently in the process of preparing an introductory email/letter letting them all know who we are and what we are all about.

Next we will be preparing a PRESS RELEASE to the Australian tabloids, advertising this site and our cause. You guys can help with this too. Know someone of influence in the journalism game – let them know about us.
